A number of members of the Florence Crittenton School's class of 2010 won awards and honors. Congratulations!

Jessica Ramirez won the Metropolitan Mayor's and Commissioners Youth Award (MMCYA), recognizing students who have overcome adversity. Jessica had a son at 15 and quit school to raise him herself, then began attending the Florence Crittenton School, from which she graduates in May, an aspiring nurse. To be eligible to apply, students needed to have stellar attendance and be attending CEC Middle College of Denver; both had interviews and both were great.  The scholarship is renewable for an additional year.  The Rotary Club also provides a mentor for each student.

Ashlee Cooper was named a Mile High Scholar by the City and County of Denver. She and the others chose will be honored in a city-wide ceremony with the Mayor and Superintendent on April 13 at the Buell Theatre of the Denver Center for Performing Arts Complex.  The number of students from each school is determined by enrollment. Students receive a certificate, a picture with the Mayor, tickets to sporting events, a bumper sticker to display their achievement and cultural opportunities. Students are selected by the principal and teachers at their school for their leadership skills, respect for self, others, the school community, and in support of their peers.
