Director -- Student and Family Support Services
Florence Crittenton Services is committed to helping teen families create cycles of success. Using a holistic and proven approach, with academics as the foundation, the Florence Crittenton School offers a spectrum of support services for the entire teen family, including an Early Learning Center for infants and toddlers and a Family Engagement Center for babies’ fathers and family members.
The school has forged a unique partnership with Denver Public Schools (DPS) for over 25 years. It serves pregnant and parenting teens eligible to attend Denver schools.
SUMMARY
Provide strategic direction and leadership for the student support services group and the family engagement center. Directs implementation of strategy and oversees all operations for programs and supervisor counseling and program staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively with other agency program leaders and staff to design, implement, assess and adjust coordinated programming and administrative. functions for the students support services and family engagement center to support client success and achievement.
- Participates in and supports agency-wide strategic planning, communication, evaluation, policy development and administrative activities as requested.
- Identifies and supports community partnerships that support and/or supplement agency resources, efficiency and efficiency and effectiveness in facilitating client success and achievement.
- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising, supporting, developing, evaluating, disciplining and terminating student support services and family engagement staff.
- Develops and implements professional development plans for student support services and family engagement center staff consistent with strategic goals and student achievement needs; participates in professional development to strengthen leadership, content, and best practice expertise where needed; leverages DPS opportunities where available and appropriate.
- Provide counseling and facilitates group activities as dictated by client need and school program expectations; maintain case files.
- Assist clients in resolving conflicts and building a positive school community.
- Refer clients to other agency staff and/or community resources as appropriate.
- Provide consultation and in-service trainings on mental health issues to other agency staff.
- Develops and manages annual student support services and family engagement center budgets in collaboration with agency finance department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for supervision of counselors, social workers, psychologist, parent education specialist, and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years experience
- Proven ability to develop, articulate and implement a vision, plan and programs
- Ability to motivate and lead diverse staff and student body in an alternative education environment
- Excellent counseling, mediation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of child/adolescent development
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement using best practice and research based strategies
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Collaborative leadership skills and ability to maintain a positive school culture and climate that supports student achievement
EDUCATION, TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
- Master’s Degree required in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology and professional licensure preferred
- Experience working in a school setting
- Experience working with culturally diverse at-risk youth
- Spanish speaking a plus
- Strong proven management experience
