end-of-year giving

As we celebrate the Florence Crittenton School's 25th anniversary year, it’s gratifying to step back and assess how much we have accomplished over the past quarter century. The shining faces of the record 41 young women who graduated this past May said it all: Parent Pathways and the Florence Crittenton School really do provide inspiration and hope to teen families.

Just ask Isabel.

Isabel and JuliusShe became pregnant last year in the middle of a downward spiral. Dabbling in drugs, skipping school, she had been abandoned by a drug-addicted mother and had lost her father. Living with an aunt and uncle, she had no motivation and no hope for the future.

But her pregnancy changed that. Referred to the Florence Crittenton School, she began attending in the spring and already sees a promising new life ahead. With son Julius happily ensconced in the "Daisies" classroom of the recently expanded Early Learning Center – and herself embraced by supportive, committed teachers, counselors and administrators at the Florence Crittenton School -- Isabel is forging ahead with new hope and ambition.

And that's good for all of us.
In When Girls Don’t Graduate, We All Fail - A Call to Improve High School Graduation Rates for Girls, the National Women’s Law Center examined the problems created when girls do not finish high school. The report challenges us all, pointing out that, "Because pregnancy and parenting responsibilities play a significant role in many girls' decisions to drop out of school, it is critical that students who face these challenges be given the support they need to continue their educations and fulfill their academic potential.

Parent Pathways' Florence Crittenton School meets that challenge head-on. With the help of people like you, we continue to improve our programs and services to better meet the needs of struggling teen families.

Especially the children, the heart of these young families.
The first five years of a child’s life are crucial for social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Failure to invest time and resources during children’s early years has long-term effects on the foster care, health care, social support and education systems. Parent Pathways' Early Learning Center helps create healthy children and families, saving them from lives of poverty, underemployment and dependence on social-welfare programs.

A dollar spent on our Early Learning Center today
saves society many more dollars later,
as we create cycles of success!
