tessa and RejeanaFlorence Crittenton English Teacher Tessa Rybkowski has been elected the school's "Mile High Teacher." She was selected by the students based on the following criteria:

-- The teacher(s) goes above and beyond in instruction by bringing in projects/activities to enhance and bring to life the curriculum.
--The teacher(s) is creative in engaging students and delivering instruction.
--The teacher(s) works well with colleagues in sharing ideas for instruction/curriculum.

Tessa will be honored in a city-wide ceremony with the Mayor, City Council, Superintendent and School Board

Jessica RamirezFlorence Crittenton School senior Jessica Ramirez has won the Metropolitan Mayor's and Commissioners Youth Award (MMCYA), recognizing students who have overcome adversity. Jessica had a son at 15 and quit school to raise him herself, then began attending the Florence Crittenton Schoo, from which she graduates in May, an aspring nurse.

Jessica, who was nominated by Art Therapist Beth Erlander, received a one-year scholarship to the Community College of Denver. She is one is 23 winners in Denver County.

The purpose of the award is to to identify and recognize teenagers who have overcome obstacles and risen to the challenges life has presented.

Ashlee CooperAshlee Cooper has been named a Mile High Scholar by the City and County of Denver. She and the others chose will be honored in a city-wide ceremony with the Mayor and Superintendent on April 13 at the Buell Theatre of the Denver Center for Performing Arts Complex. 

The number of students from each school is determined by enrollment. Students receive a certificate, a picture with the Mayor, tickets to sporting events, a bumper sticker to display their achievement and cultural opprtunities. Students are selected by the principal and teachers at their school for their leadership skills, respect for self, others, the school community, and in support of their peers.  

Wendy BarronJessica Ramirez and Wendy Barron have both been awarded  $900 scholarships from the Rotary Club of Denver. To be eligible to apply, students needed to have stellar attendance and be attending CEC Middle College of Denver; both had interviews and both were great.  The scholarship is renewable for an additional year.  The Rotary Club also provides a mentor for each student.
