meet celia

Celia Hernandez has a nineteen-month-old daughter Miriam who means the world to her.

“Miriam is the greatest thing I have in my life. I value her so much that if something happened to her I would prefer that it happened to me.”

Being a teen mother has made Celia more motivated and responsible.  She said, “Before I became pregnant I got into a lot of trouble and did not do well in school.  Now I am a great student and my life has changed in many good ways.”

Celia has also proved that she can make her dreams come true. She would like to tell others, “Just because you are a teen mother does not mean you can’t go further with your dreams for your life.”

The Florence Crittenton School and the Early Learning Center has made a difference in her life.  “If I did not have the help from the School and Learning Center I would not have been able to make it through high school.”

She added, “My daughter has also been helped a lot in the Early Learning Center.  She is able to interact with others and learn how to share with other kids.”

Celia may work for a couple of years before she goes to college but she has definite plans to attend.  She said, “I want to work hard and have a good home and eventually more children.”
