Christine Anaya has a thirteen-month-old daughter named Alison, whose smile is like a light bulb.
“Even if I’m down her smile reminds me I have something to be happy for.”
Being a teen mother turned Christine’s world upside down. She said, “I have found a love I have never known before and that is truly amazing.” But being a teen mother has affected her future in big way. She has to work twice as hard. “Things are hard when you’re just taking care of yourself, but now I have someone completely dependent me.”
“I think it’s important to surround yourself with good people. People who love and support you. You don’t need to deal with people who are not supportive of the goals you are trying to achieve.”
She found the support she needed at the Florence Crittenton School. “Being at Florence Crittenton School taught me that I can be a good parent and a student. That’s the best feeling in the world.”
Christine had trouble attending a regular high school because her daughter was to far away. Christine doesn’t think it is right for new mothers to be away from their children. Attending Florence Crittenton School has allowed Christine to go to school and still be near her little girl who is down the hall in the Early Learning Center.
She plans to go to college. She has not determined yet what she will major in, but she is working toward a solid future for her daughter.
“My daughter is the love of my life. I live for her and she is everything to me.”
