meet jesusita

Jesusita DeJesus’s little boy, Emiliano, is thirty-five-months-old and a little gentleman.

She said, “The things that are special to me about my son are his smile, his education and his health. I love him so much.”

Becoming a teen mother has changed Jesusita completely.  She said, “I’m not the same person I used to be. I had to grow-up faster than I should have.  Now I have to make sure that everything I do is done correctly because it is going to affect my son.”

She also said, “I would like to tell others not to get pregnant, but if you are even thinking about it you need to think about who the father is.  Is he someone who you want to be connected to for the rest of your life?  And, is he a person who is going to be a good father?”

Jesusita is thankful that the Florence Crittenton School offers an intimate setting for individualized attention. She said, “I believe the School has helped me so much because it is small and the teachers know you very well.  Everyone is friendly and very supportive.  Also without the Early Learning Center I would not have been able to attend school, because I do not have anyone else who can care for my son.”

She continued, “The Early Learning Center has helped my son understand how to treat others.  They have also helped me become a good mother by telling me when they see something that is not right with him and I am also thankful that they feed him nutritious meals and snacks.”

Jesusita has plans for her and her son to continue their education. She said, “I plan to go to college for a couple of years and get a job that pays well.  I want to buy a car and a home, but most importantly I want to make sure that I put my son in a very good school.”
