Lizette Huerta’s little boy, Jose, is twenty-nine months-old and always makes her smile.
“Everything about my son is special to me. I love him to death.”
She said, “Not only do I have to look out for myself, but I also have to protect my little man.” Being a teen mother has made Lizette more responsible. She continued to say, “I have to make decisions that will be healthy for both of us.”
Lizette wanted to share this with others, “Keep moving forward with your life. Ignore the looks and stares others may give you. Others do not know that you are capable of doing with your life.”
She is thankful for the support she received from the Florence Crittenton School. She said, “The School and staff gave me the time to catch-up on my work, and when I didn’t understand something the teachers would help me. I was also provided with many resources in times of need.”
She added, “The Early Learning Center was also a great help. I did not have anyone else who could take care of my son while I went to school. Having the on-site learning center made my life easier and my son learned a lot from his care-givers, he has become very attached to them.”
Lizette has plans to attend Community College of Denver and be a student of there Paralegal Program. She also said, “I want everything in my life for my family and myself to be happy.”
