Fundraising Tips

Last year we raised $50,000 for Florence Crittenton Services at the Miles for Moms Run/Walk.This year, our goal is $70,000!

Here are some ideas to rally your team!

  • Share Florence Crittenton Services' story with potential team members and gift-givers.
  • Create fun team attire to wear on race day. (There's a prize for the most creative attire or identity.)
  • Set a team goal and personal fundraising goals.
  • Celebrate when team members reach goals and share successful strategies.
  • Don't forget that everyone who raises or gives $25 or more (on top of the registration fee) gets a student-designed Mother's Day card to send to a special mom.
  • Keep growing that team -- earn the prize for the largest team.
Keep raising money -- there's a prize for the highest fundraising team. Why shouldn't that be YOU?
  • Remind your team members that the race also gives a prize for the highest individual fundraiser!
  • Keep your eye on your true goal: to help the mom you've adopted! The blue box to the left shows how your money makes a difference.
  • Today is a good time to send a follow-up email to your address book, reminding your contacts to give to your cause. Send it out to everybody! They can't give if you don't ask.

Letter/Email Writing Campaign

  • Send a request to your entire email list! This is one of the most effective ways to raise money. You don't have to ask directly, and people can say no without embarrassment or pressure. But you'll be surprised how many say yes!
  • Make a list of the people you see or talk to every day, and send them each a personalized letter or email explaining why you want to raise money and ask for their support. Or ask them face-to face!

Use Social Media

Put the event on your Facebook page, and send it to your Friends list. Tweet it to your followers.

Raise $100 in only 10 days!

For 10 days, pick 10 people you want to ask for $10 dollars. For example, on Day 1, you pledge $10 dollars, on Day 2, ask a friend, on Day 3, ask a coworker, and so forth! After the 10th day, you will have $100. Then, keep asking others to increae your donations!s

Talk about it!

You will be surprised how much support you will receive by just telling your friend, family, community, or church members about the race. Let them know that you are fundraising, provide some facts, and let them know why Florence Crittenton Services' and Florence Crittenton High School are such a great beneficiary of your time and their funds!
